AIUB, the title sponsor of the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024 Bangladesh phase
American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) has become the title sponsor of the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024 Bangladesh phase organized by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). A memorandum of understanding was signed between Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), the organizer of the competition, and the university on Sunday.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at AIUB Administrative Building. For BASIS, the BASIS President Russell T Ahmed, Vice President (Finance) Iqbal Ahmed Fakhrul Hasan, Convener of NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024 Bangladesh Phase Abhijit Bhowmik, Anisul Haque (Local Lead) and Sanjar Adnan Alam (Local Lead) were present at the ceremony. On the other hand, AIUB founder member and chairperson of board of trustees Nadia Anwar, AIUB proctor Manzoor H Khan and deputy director of Office of Student Affairs Ziarat Hussain Khan were present on behalf of AIUB.
On October 4-5, 2024, the competition will be held virtually in 185 countries and cities worldwide. BASIS is organizing this competition for the 11th time in association with BASIS Students Forum. In the past, Bangladesh has achieved the honor of becoming the world champion for a total of four times including three consecutive times in this competition.
NASA is implementing this program with the aim of finding innovative solutions to solve various global problems of the world by bringing together talented young people from different fields such as technicians, scientists, designers, artists, educators, entrepreneurs from 185 countries of the world. As part of this, BASIS is organizing in 9 cities of Bangladesh (Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Cumilla).
BASIS President Russell T Ahmed said, “BASIS is always working to create new opportunities for the youth. These young people will lead the prosperous future of Bangladesh. Our creative youth from Bangladesh have successfully solved the NASA Space Apps Challenge and won the honor of becoming the world's best four times, including three times in a row. We are going to participate in this competition for the 11th time. I am hopeful that this year too our contestants will brighten the face of our country in the international arena.”
